ABOUT THE OWNER

COACH

TIM

KELLEHER

Owner and long time baseball enthusiast, Tim Kelleher, founded the Batter’s Box in the Fall of 2012 on the same principles he coaches by “Work Hard, Improve, and Have Fun”.

Coach Kelleher has spent over three decades teaching the fundamentals of the game to his Little League, Babe Ruth, High School and many other teams in the Western Mass Area.

Having played baseball in High School for Saint Mary’s High, Tim quickly found himself managing the High School team he once played for in the late 80′s. Since then Coach K has coached many teams to successful seasons, and has had a large amount of players move on to the next level in play.

TESTIMONIALS

Dan Donahue

Parent of Batter's Box Renegades Player

This morning I witnessed the best team performance since the British Bulldogs defeated the hated Dream Team, which consisted of Brutus the Barber Beefcake and Greg “The Hammer” Valentine during Wrestlemania II on April 5, 1986 in Chicago.

Earlier today in Worcester the Renegades 13’s put in the best team effort I have witnessed in youth baseball. Everyone on this team showed their 11-month commitment to themselves and their teammates through another display of hard work and dedication. Everyone put the guy next to them first and sacrificed what needed to get done to get a win. However, as a very wise man once said, “sometimes the baseball God’s are not with you today.” This was the case this morning as the 13’s dropped a 4-2 playoff game to the Worcester Energy. Maybe it’s selfish but today the score didn’t matter as I got to witness these kids put in work through passion for the game and a commitment to each other that made it the best game I have ever watched from outside the fence.

The “experts” say the game needs to be sped up, which I disagree with. Our boys are getting bigger, stronger, faster (some are....haha), and more importantly smarter on the field. I say slow the ride down and enjoy everyday and every inning of it as we only go this way once.

Huge thanks to Coach Timothy Kelleher and the Batter’s Box organization for the year long commitment they continue to make in shaping our boys into the young men they are becoming on and off the field.

"The Batter's Box helped turn me into a collegiate baseball player with a mix of their great facility and knowledgable and friendly coaches. It was really easy to get in and work on anything from hitting off the tee to throwing a bull pen whenever I needed to."

"Mr. Kelleher’s superior ability to form lasting and meaningful relationships with nearly every customer that walked in the door. It was not uncommon to see him scoot away from his business to go watch an at-bat or an inning of a Little Leaguer who had recently been hitting or pitching in his cages. He not only is on a first name basis with every one of his over 200 members, he also knows each one’s family members and the fall, spring and summer teams they play on, along with  their coaches. Mr. Kelleher cares about his customers in a way that no other owner I’ve come across does. He makes you feel part of the Batter’s Box family the moment you walk through the door and is extremely generous with his time—his number one motivator is seeing improvements in the abilities of the children who come in to hit or pitch.

Along with the rest of the Batter’s Box staff, including Coaches Adam Zebian, Jeff Pluta and Jim Jaychm, Mr. Kelleher has greatly aided the progression of my baseball career. One of the best baseball experiences of my life was playing for the Batter’s Box Renegades 17u team. On a team filled with talent, the coaches took an individual approach to each player that enhanced my skill set and improved my confidence. It is not an understatement to say that The Batter’s Box is largely responsible for my recruitment to many Division 3 and Academic Division 1 Schools. After deciding to attend Oberlin College in Northern Ohio on an academic scholarship, I was able to stand out from my peers by applying the important techniques instilled in me by the Batter’s Box.  I excelled on the mound during our fall season and was thus was one of the few freshman to get innings or starts on a team that won the first Conference Championship in school history. My participation in all of this would not have been possible without the help of Mr. Kelleher and the Batter’s Box.

I have now moved on to Babson College to pursue a business degree (and continue playing baseball), I would suggest the Box to anybody looking to have fun, improve their game, and develop new skills. There is not a better environment around to learn, and the staff takes an unparalleled interest in the progression of your abilities. I could not more strongly attest to the great community that exists at The Box. No matter if you are just starting out or looking to take your skills to the next level, The Batter’s Box is the place for you."
